Elmbridge CAN is a small charity, based in Elmbridge, Surrey, UK. We aim to build a culture of welcome to refugees within the local community, and work to achieve the settlement of more refugees in the Borough of Elmbridge.
The global refugee crisis is the largest and most complex humanitarian crisis of our generation. There are more than 65.3 million forcibly displaced people worldwide and more than half of all refugees are children.
We believe that we all have the power and responsibility to make a difference to those whose lives have been affected.
We facilitate this within the Borough of Elmbridge – bringing together residents, businesses, community groups, charities and the local authority.
WHAT WE DO
- Improve the lives of refugees in Elmbridge
We offer grants and services that promote social inclusion and well being among refugees and asylum seekers.
- Relieve hardship and distress for unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) in Surrey
We support UASC to take part in activities that build self-confidence and combat social isolation.
- Raise awareness
We help people be aware and sensitive to the needs of refugees.
