Charity description

EFOD Midlands logo
Engineers for Overseas Development is a Charitable Company designed to assist in the development and training of young professionals in the construction industry by challenging members to plan and manage construction projects to alleviate poverty in Sub Saharan Africa. Young volunteers - including engineers, architects, project managers and qualified apprentices from the construction industry - are challenged to form a team to design a solution to a problem, raise funds, and visit the country, to hire labour, purchase materials, supervise construction and commission.

Building a Mill And Grain Store

The Revival Centre was founded in 2001 by Pastor Ivan who wanted to provide for the poor of the area, particularly for orphans greatly affected by the Ugandan Civil War. Today, the Revival Centre contains a primary school for 450 pupils, a secondary school for 350 pupils, an orphanage for 150 children, a clinic, a church and most recently, a farm.

An opportunity was identified to help with the running costs of the Revival Centre as well as benefiting the wider local farming community, in establishing a maize mill and warehouse where raw wheat could be stored and processed locally.
To enable such an opportunity to be fulfilled, EFOD intends to construct a mill with the following characteristics:
  • Drying shelter
  • Mill and hulling processing room
  • Flour storage room
  • Office and weighing room
