East Staffordshire Citizens Advice Bureau

Charity description

East Staffordshire Citizens Advice Bureau logo
We're a free, confidential, independent and impartial service which aims to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.

Over 50 volunteers and 30 staff work to ensure local people have access to quality, holistic advice in both Burton on Trent and Uttoxeter. By working with clients to discuss their options and ways to move forward we seek to empower them and increase their confidence for the future. Traditionally we have helped the most vulnerable within our communities but as economic times become increasingly unstable more and more people rely on our service for crucial advice.

Established in 1939, we have dealt with many changes as a service and as such we have become a responsive organisation. Currently the main issues people bring to us relate to welfare benefits, debt, employment, housing, homelessness, legal problems and consumer good and services.

Campaigning about social policy issues is also key and we seek to champion the rights of individuals at a local, regional and national level in partnership with the national charity, Citizens Advice, and other local offices.
