DRUM is a user led and non-profit organisation. DRUM offer high quality and low cost day activities and services to adults with physical and/or sensory disabilities, living in and around the Watford area. Keeping our member's costs low ensures that they can attend DRUM more than just once a week if they choose to. This reduces isolation and provides additional support and a break to their unpaid carers, who are often juggling employment with their caring responsibilities at home. DRUM services include daily activity sessions in art, crafts, ceramics, textiles, yoga, tai chi, drama, creative writing, dance, sport & music workshops. We also organise day trips, social events. transport and provide members with a hot lunch. Some funding is received from Hertfordshire County Council (Adult Care Services) towards the salaries of our part time staff, although this funding is the same as it was in 2006! All DRUM staff work many additional hours on a voluntary basis and we also have a dedicated and local team of tutors and volunteers to help. All other funding (over £60,000 a year) is raised by DRUM, through membership fees, small grant applications, donations and fundraising.
