Dimension Skatepark was formed by a group of volunteers to provide a Multi-Wheeled Sports Facility for the people of Bourne and surrounding area, to be used Free of Charge.
This facility, once built, will provide access to all young people now and in the future regardless of economic background, ethnicity or gender. It will be suitable for all abilities and for those with disabilities using a wide range of wheeled machines (bmx, skateboard, roller-blades, scooter or wheelchair etc.).
Bourne United Charities, who owns the Abbey Lawn, is offering the use of a piece of the Abbey Lawn under a Lease Agreement for a 30-year period. The site is in an area already catering for a range of sports (cricket, tennis, outdoor swimming, football, lawn bowls and pétanque) and the project will enhance the range of facilities on offer to the community with one exception; this facility will be Free of Charge to the user.
After many years of hard work, Dimension Skatepark has been granted Planning Permission for the proposed project.
The youth of Bourne has been involved from the beginning with surveys and design layout and fundraising.
In April 2016 Dimension Skatepark became a registered charity. The charity has 5 Trustees and a committee consisting of various age groups. Over the years we consulted numerous organisations, authorities, Planning Officers and other professionals, with regards to meeting legal requirements.
Dimension Skatepark is responsible for commissioning the design and build of the facility and will continue to manage the facility in accordance with the Management Plan submitted to the Planning Authority and approved by them.
Our main aim has always been for the youth of the area to have access to a facility which they can use free of charge and to encourage young people to go outside and be active; to mix with other likeminded people and have fun. We believe such facilities enhance social skills and are of great benefit to the general wellbeing of the user.
We have kept the general public informed of the progress through the local media, emails, Facebook and website or by personal contact with individuals.
We shall continue to build wider and stronger relationships within the town in order to ensure the future of the facility.
Please donate to support our cause. Thank You!
