Charity description

Derwent & Wye Valley Railway Trust Ltd logo
The charity’s objectives are to acquire, restore, preserve and operate a representative collection of heritage railway buildings, structures, rolling stock and artefacts for use by, exhibition to and for the education of the
public in the infrastructure, management and operation of railways between Ambergate and Buxton in the County of Derbyshire

The major project currently being undertaken is the restoration of the
former Darley Dale footbridge which will be placed in it’s previous position. The charity has already funded the patterns for the header beams and columns, and the castings of these items.
We now require funds to restore the arch, landings, and four staircases. When completed this will be a major asset to Darley Dale Station.
During the period that the charity has existed it has helped with the
purchase and Installation of the lights on the Up and Down platforms at Darley Dale Station and also the fencing on the platforms, together with the signal box which now stands at Matlock Riverside.
We are currently funding the restoration of a Mark 1 first open coach acquired in 2008 and a heritage water column acquired in 2007 for servicing steam engines
Our ultimate aim is to acquire and restore the Down Building at Darley Dale Station.
Thank you for reading this profile and we hope you will help our charity.
