Darroch Explorer Scout Unit

Charity description

Darroch Explorer Scout Unit logo
Darroch Explorer Scout Unit (D.E.S.U) caters for the needs of 13.5 – 18 year olds in Gourock and the wider area. We are in partnership with the 1st Gourock Scout Group (6th Greenock & District). We meet in the scout hall on Drumshantie Rd and meet on a Wednesday night 8pm – 10pm.

The Unit has really flourished since beginning due to the enthusiasm of the members and leadership team and we have been extremely active in the short period we have been together, with many camps and hikes locally and nationally and other activities. We are will continue to deliver an exciting and challenging programme to our unit in the following years such as Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Summer Camps, community projects and much more exciting opportunities. It is also our ambition to increase our numbers, offering our programme to more young people.

We are part of The Scout Association which is a voluntary youth movement and a registered charity. All operating costs come from the hard work of the members who fundraise for us. I am asking for your support to raise the funds necessary to assist in the running of the unit and help us deliver our programme, at present our funds come from our membership fee which goes towards the use of the hall and equipment.
