Dance Again Foundation

Charity description

Dance Again Foundation logo
DanceAgain, a UK registered charity to help dancers manage their injuries, enabling a return safely to dance asap- by offering help for injured dancers ranging from advice for accessing specialist sports physicians, to augmenting specialist physio help pre-and post- operatively, negotiating with providers to give preferential rates or even just supporting the dancer with
motivational help. We work strategically to improve the provision of sports and dance medicine locally by working co-operatively with any local providers to arrange more dance- centric clinics all of which requires funding!

The Charity was set up after dancer Jack Widdowson made an astonishing recovery back to dance -he had a serious neck injury which had left him paralysed from the neck down. His family saw that with early intervention, specialist medical knowledge, extra therapy and great positivity, injury outcomes can be maximised for dancers, who are usually poorly supported, despite being elite athletes. The charity helps dancers access the right level of specialist help, will negotiate a preferential rate for dancers and may provide additional funds for intensive treatment if required. We will support dancers to ask the right questions, and prepare pre and post operatively to optimise outcomes. We work strategically to improve provision of dance injury clinics locally. Our cases include funding specialised physio for a ruptured Achilles tendon, pre and post operative physio advice for a meniscus repair, rehab advice for a broken toe, intensive remobilisation for a repeated tibial fracture.
