Condovers - Buy a Brick
Condovers Scout Activity Centre is a popular and well
used Scout campsite that is located just outside of the village of West Tilbury, Essex and is managed by Thurrock District Scout Council (TDSC).
Scouts have been camping and running activities at Condovers for over 60 years and Playscheme is as strong as ever. In 2014, a new 25 year lease was secured for the site and a long term development plan has been endorsed by TDSC. During the winter of 2014/15 a major upgrade and refurbishment of the 40 year old toilets and showers was completed. Last year, the old storage area was converted into a disabled toilet and wet room. The last phase of this project is to convert the old shop into toilets and showers for adult leaders.
Other projects identified include indoor activity room with target shooting range, archery range, Zip Wire, caving simulator plus new stores. Longer term we are also
looking at building a 40 bed pack holiday centre so that the site can be used all year round.
Condovers Scout Campsite and Activity Centre needs your support.
Have you camped at Condovers in the last 60 years? Did you attend Playscheme? Do you know young people who have enjoyed this little haven in West Tilbury?
During the last 7 years, Condovers has been going through a major regeneration to bring the facilities into the 21st century and this has included the removal of old caravans, a new campfire circle, upgraded electrical and water infrastructure and a major upgrade and refurbishment of the toilets and showers.
We now want to convert the old shop into toilets and showers for adult Leaders.
In the last 7 years we have invested over £125K in Condovers and we have now run out of money. We have launched a Buy a Brick appeal
with the aim of raising £8K to complete the next phase of the plan.
You can help by buying a few bricks, a hod of bricks or even a barrow load and in return you will become a Friend of Condovers?
