Charity description

Citizens Advice North Somerset (CANS) is an established and well regarded local independent charity.  Our services are free, impartial, confidential and non-judgmental.  And we undertake research and campaign work to influence policy makers and effect change so that one person's problem doesn't become another person's problem.

We are moving our main office to 39 Oxford Street, Weston-super-Mare.  This move has been prompted by a change of ownership of the Badger Community Resource Centre, where we have been for over a decade, and our lease not being renewed beyond April 2019.

We need to raise in the region of £250,000 to buy 39 Oxford Street and turn it into a modern, professional advice centre so we can continue to provide our much needed services.

In 2017/18 we helped over 7,000 people who came to us with over 22,000 issues.

For every £1 invested in our services £25 is going back into the community through benefit applications and appeals, debts managed or written off and consumer problems resolved.

As a charity, we rely on the support and generosity of companies, grant-making trusts and members of the public. People like you. We welcome any financial contribution, no matter how small.

All the money we receive will go directly into helping us move to our new premises and keeping our charity operating and ensuring our services are as effective as possible.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
