Charity description

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.  Cherry Park Driving Group is affiliated to the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).  It aims to introduce people with disabilities to the equestrian discipline of carriage-driving.  The aim is to teach them to drive a pony and carriage with the help of an RDA Coach using two sets of reins to give security and control.  It has been proved that such activities help disabled people to experience the feeling of being in control, boosting their self-confidence and enhancing their wellbeing.

Although the Group is run entirely by volunteers, there are many costs involved.  We own our own pony whose welfare is our responsibility.  As well as feeding him and providing him with shelter, during our season he has to be shod every five or six weeks.  There are also the inevitable vet fees to pay on occasion.  We own our own carriages which have to be maintained and serviced regularly, and we pay the fees and fuel costs when our disabled drivers compete in events.   As a result, fundraising is an important element in keeping the show on the road.

Please donate to support our cause.
