Cheltenham Minster Bell Appeal
Bells have always been at the heart of any parish – no
church wedding would be complete without them. No longer just a call to worship, they help us celebrate and mourn, and England would not be the same without them.
In 2013, the diocese of Gloucester raised St Mary’s to Minster status, making it clear that Cheltenham is an important centre of Christianity. New bells will be an asset to the minster.
The people who made the bells were more concerned with how they looked than how they sounded – as a result, they are not as tuneful as they could be. St Mary’s deserves the best possible peal of bells, and you can make that happen. We would like to fulfil the potential of St Mary’s bell tower by having the best sound possible.
We are seeking to raise £400,000, one third of which has already been secured. Any donation, no matter how large or small, is welcome.
