Charity description

Castle Dore Rowing Club logo
Castle Dore Rowing Club encourages and coaches people from the age of 12 upwards in recreational and competitive slide-seat rowing, from its clubhouse in Golant on the beautiful River Fowey.

Castle Dore Rowing Club is a small club run entirely by volunteers. We work hard to encourage people of all ages to enjoy the sport of rowing. Growing interest in joining the club means we are now at a stage where we need to raise money for an additional boat to meet our needs.

We’re fundraising to buy vital equipment including a new boat for our little fleet. This would greatly increase the flexibility of our fleet, enabling more crews to go out, increase outings and improve overall access to the sport whilst also enhancing our ability to enter championships locally and nationally. Through rowing, we enable people to access the river, spend time outdoors in nature and take part in exercise, which are all known to help improve physical and mental health. Rowing in crews increases fitness and helps develop life skills such as team building, communication, coordination and water safety skills.

Supported by volunteer rowers, coaches and members, Castle Dore has weekly river outings and exercise classes. A calendar of social events encourages members and non-members to increase social contact and creates a vibrant friendly club.
