Capital Kids Cricket
Capital Kids Cricket was formed in 1990 to address the disappearance of cricket from inner London state schools. Hardly more than 20 primary schools were playing cricket. Now at least 600 of those 800 primary schools actively teach cricket to their children - thanks to Capital Kids Cricket and its supporters.
In recent years (while still maintaining our work in schools) there have been other important developments. Working with our cricketing partners and sponsors we put into practice our slogan “teams not gangs” by working with communities in under-privileged areas to develop new clubs for youngsters. Many of these children have residential experiences at Arundel which bring another dimension into their lives.
We also have specific projects aimed at children with special needs and disabilities, developing skills, teaching them about team work and playing adapted games that give them the chance to take part in competitions, something that is too often denied to them.
