Canonbury School Foundation
The Foundation's Constitution states that the aim of the charity is to enhance the education of all children at Canonbury. It is not a case of the Foundation having to fill gaps in the school budget but is about enriching the lives of all children, both in and around their school lives.
Our ongoing projects reflect the broad range of the children's interests and needs and we aim to ensure that no child misses out on opportunities to grow and flourish during their time at Canonbury.
Our projects include: Playground - continued improvement to the outside space at the school. Through an auction in 2018 run by the Foundation the school community raised over £40,000 that went to provide a superb playground area next to the newly installed astroturf multi use games area in the playground. Music - enhanced music provision for all children. The Foundation raised the funds to set up the Brass Programme in which all Key Stage 2 children participate. We provide funds to repair, replace and to maintain the brass instruments, pay for the hire of the Union Chapel for the bi-annual school concerts, have invested in new percussion instruments and have contributed to small group visits to the London Symphony Orchestra.
School journeys - every child should have the opportunity to experience the world beyond their classroom. The school journeys that Canonbury offers provide the children with time to develop self-confidence, self-discipline, to improve their communication and team-working skills. the Foundation ensures that no child misses out on these vital experiences by providing all necessary extra funding.
