Charity description

Camrowers logo
A truly unique rowing club for older people in Cambridge.

Our members are living proof that regular exercise can help reduce the signs of aging and combat illness and disability.

Camrowers has 90 members, mostly in their 60s, 70s and 80s, and most had never rowed before they joined the club.

With the help of expert 1-to-1 coaching and a fleet of stable boats, members soon gain the skills and confidence to row - whatever their age or disability. Our oldest regular rower is 89 and still going strong.

We have raised £350,000 from grants and donations to fund our first ever boathouse. This opens in Spring 2017, giving indoor facilities for our rowers and shelter for our boats for the very first time.
Now we are fundraising to replace some of our oldest heavy boats with light modern boats that suit learners and can be adapted for people with disabilities.
