Charity description

Calstock Parish Archive logo
We are enthusiastic volunteers, passionate about the amazing industrial and social heritage of Calstock Parish in SE Cornwall.  We work with local organisations and schools, undertake research and present exhibitions. Our collections have been growing for over 30 years and we are desperate to move to larger premises at Albaston Cemetery Chapel.

We are always ready to help visitors and enquirers find out about their families, their home or local places of interest.  Many enquire about ancestors who lived and worked here and moved away or emigrated.  We promote interest in local history by presenting exhibitions, publishing books and pamphlets, and providing speakers to local organisations.
We have entered into a partnership with Calstock Parish Council, who own the Albaston Cemetery Chapel, to raise funds to refurbish it after several years of disuse.  This project will allow expansion and better conservation of our collections, with provision of a working area which will accommodate school parties and other groups.  We work closely with Cornwall Record Office and are members of the Cornish Archives Network. We are striving to achieve quality standards for community archives.
We have been awarded intial funding by the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop our bid for refurbishing Albaston Cemetery Chapel as a new home for the archive and for community use.  The Archive is committed to raising £15,500 towards the much more substantial project costs.
Your donation to our project will be greatly appreciated.
