Charity description

Thank you for visiting the Birkdale Community Hub and Library page on MyDonate, below is some history about the charity and what we are trying to accomplish - please support us with a donation!

Birkdale Community Hub and Library was registered as a charity in September 2013 under its original name of Friends of Birkdale Library with the aim of saving the old Birkdale library (now replaced by new housing) on Liverpool Road.

When this was no longer possible we found the Station Masters House which is attached to the railway station in Birkdale village and has been empty for 20 years. Since 2015 we have been working with Merseyrail and Network Rail towards opening a library and community hub in this old Victorian house.

We are busy raising funds and applying for grants as the house interior is in poor condition and needs to be brought up to modern day standards. Equipment is needed for community and library use, including a computer network and ideally a lift to the upper floor. We would like to make use of the railway heritage too as this could be the theme throughout the house.

Thank you for your donation!
