Bentley Priory Battle of Britain Trust
The Bentley Priory Battle of Britain Trust are in the final stages of fundraising and designing a museum and learning-centre at the beautiful Grade 2* Listed Bentley Priory, most famous for its role as Headquarters Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain.
The Trust was formed by the ‘Few’, the surviving aircrew of
the Battle of Britain when it was announced in 2005 that Bentley Priory was to
be sold. Our mission is to provide a sustainable future as a museum and centre
of leaning about the Battle of Britain and the other aspects of the building’s
history. Bentley Priory will be an exciting place to visit, with learning at
its heart. The project involves the design and delivery of significant enhancements
in access, learning and participation together with conservation of the historic
fabric of the house, gardens and collection.
We will install accessible and stimulating interpretive displays to tell
the story of the house’s changing roles, its association with significant
historical characters, the landscape and the vital role of the Priory during
the Battle of Britain, D-Day and Cold War. Key to meeting our objectives is a
learning programme to be delivered at Bentley Priory, in the community and
through the internet.
