Charity description

ASR Charitable Trust logo
ASR is a small charity based in the UK, which provides much needed health and education related services mainly to the Indian state of Punjab.

ASR Charitable Trust was set up in 2006. 'ASR', pronounced 'us-ur', is Punjabi for 'effect' - we aim to have a positive effect on people's lives. Current activities include: 1) Free Dispensary: general clinic providing daily basic medical services with its own laboratory. 2) Orphanage: we employ teachers at the Orphanage's secondary school. 3) Multispeciality Camps: specialists provide advice and medicines. Free investigations and operations are arranged in the subsequent days after the camp. 4) First Aid Post: held weekly outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar. ASR's ambulance stands next to the post. 5) First Aid Camps: longer versions of the Post held on major festivals outside the Golden Temple. 6) Educational Sponsorship: needy students are supported through their degree - two have been funded so far.
