15 years of Little Gestures!

A Little Gesture A Great Help ("ALG") is a UK Charity focused on overseas aid to vulnerable childrenin the Province of Gaza, a rural area in southern Mozambique. Founded in 2012, it is sister-charity to Um Pequeno Gesto Uma Grande Ajuda ("UPG") that was founded in Portugal 15 years ago. We have been present in this impoverished region through a community network of Local Partners.

Our mission is to promote the improvement of living conditions for underprivileged children and their familiesin Mozambique.

Our goal is to give them access to academic and skills based education in a safe environment with adequate nutrition, water and housing.

We strongly believe our impact is to improve their employability, create income-generating activities and support the local economy to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

In 2018, our Sponsorship programme by our sister charity supported 896 underprivileged children individually with basic food and school enrolment costs. Our Projects programme, mostly financed by generous UK donors, complements this support. It benefits over 1´619 underprivileged children and their families annually on charitable programmes in poverty relief, basic infrastructure, advancement of education and sustainability.

With our strict cost policy and wide volunteer network we aim to apply 90p on the ground per pound donated.

Since inception we applied almost £2 million on our charitable activities. In 2017 alone, we raised c.£286 thousand in cooperation between ALG UK and UPG Portugal.

Please, help us GROW and reach more children!
