The AKT was set up in memory of Aysanew Kassa, to help poor children in Azezo (Ethiopia) complete their education.
Aysanew and his wife, Jean Bailey, originally established a small fund to provide pens, exercise books and a small monthly stipend to enable these children to complete high school.
After his death in 2000, the Aysanew Kassa Trust (AKT) was set up to continue this important work and today the project is supported and funded by donations from people throughout the world, including some of our former sponsored students.
As well as sponsoring individual students, we are active in supporting projects that enhance the provision of education in Azezo, whether that be through funding initiatives in the local schools or building the first public library in the town.
We are also very proud to support St Raphel's School for blind and partially sighted children in Azezo.
It is our hope to continue to offer financial help to this community, making a real and long-term difference.
