A Girl Called Happy

Charity description

A Girl Called Happy logo
A Girl called Happy was founded in 2015 help young women to leave poverty behind by providing education, training and support to enable them to generate a sustainable income and become self-sufficient. Working in partnership with The Mummy Foundation in Katwe (a slum area of Kampala, Uganda), we run a 3-stage structured programme and an ongoing advice and support system for the girls as they transition from education to employment.

The first 3 girls (Happy, Jamilah and Lilian) started the vocational training programme in February 2016 and completed their certificate courses in catering or hair and beauty in February 2017. Monthly reports have shown the early impact that education is having, with Lilian securing an internship and Happy and Jamilah taking cooking and baking orders for the community since completing their course. Any donation made to support more teenage mothers to complete the programme would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
