Adopt a Child Education Project (AACEPT) is a registered charity supporting the educational needs of children in The Gambia, West Africa.

AACEPT was founded in 1998, by Beryl Telman who saw the educational needs in The Gambia after going there for a holiday. On her return to the UK, she set up the charity to encourage people from her local community in Croydon, to raise funds for educational provision at Bakau Lower Basic School in Greater Banjul area.

The charity started off with facilitating the sponsorship of individual students, by individual supporters in the UK. Since Beryl’s passing in 2005, the committee have endeavoured to evolve the charity's work to suit the growing needs of schools in The Gambia. We are proud to say that with the continued support of our donors we have been able to fund building projects for  Bakau Lower Basic School, in addition to a few other primary schools in the more rural areas. Projects have included re-roofing and refurbishing classrooms, repairing desks and chairs, and improving the toilet facilities; all serving to improve the learning environment for the children.

We remain focused on improving education for children in The Gambia and we would LOVE you to partner with us to make GREAT things happen! We appreciate any gift - big or small.
