40tude curing colon cancer
Colon cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide (after lung and breast cancer), and the second most common in the UK. 1 in 15 men and 1 in 20 women are at risk of developing colon cancer in the UK, however it is one of the easiest cancers to treat if detected early.
Since it was founded in 2011, 40tude has raised close to £1.2 million for St. Mark’s Hospital in Harrow, supporting the development of bespoke, pioneering research programmes targeted at the early diagnosis and treatment of colon cancer.
40tude is helping to fund the PERFECTS programme, designed to improve the quality and availability of CT Colonographies (a 'gold standard' form of screening) across the NHS. We are supporting also the PROGRESS project to provide a better understanding of polyps (pre-cancerous growths found in the colon) from which cancer develops and how individuals are affected by them.

Join us for our forthcoming fundraising Challenges: our annual 3.5 day, fully-guided Cycle Challenge in Spain this September and our Adventure Challenges for 2020: a summit of Mount Elgon in Uganda and our Wadi Rum Challenge in Jordan. Alternatively we would love to hear from you if you would like to fundraise for us when you undertake your own personal challenge.
